In a surprising turn of events, the UAE reveals its plans on changing its tourism policy. According to the latest reports, the country’s tourist visa system will transform into a multi-entry five- year visa.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE’s Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced this change in a tweet.
“The visa policy had been approved by the UAE’s cabinet in their first meeting of the year.”
He further stated that: “The visa would enable tourists multiple entries into the country over a period of five years.”
The Sheikh failed to mention if there will be any additional visa application fees for those willing to utilize this feature of the system.
Presently, tourists can visit the UAE multiple times with a single visa, but it is valid for up to 90 days from the date of admission.
The Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE’s government had taken this step to cement the nation’s position as “the leading global tourism location”.
This move is welcomed by all, especially those involved in the travel and hospitality sector. As in recent times, the number of international tourists that have visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi rose to an astonishing 15.88 million! This is the highest number of visitors that have ever arrived in the region, according to UAE Central Bank statistics. Which basically translates to more profit for the business setups in Dubai.
